How
to apply
Apply online at www.admissions.fi.
It is important to follow all the instructions. The application period
starts on 9 January 2012 and closes on 14 February at 4.15 pm Finnish time
(+2 hrs GMT). All online applications must be submitted before the closing
time. All required attachments have to be at the admissions office of the
applicant’s first choice UAS by 24 February 2012 at 4.15 Finnish time.
Language
tests
Applicant who is not a citizen of an EU/EEA –country must
provide proof of his/her English language skills by 24 February 2012 4.15
pm at the latest to the admissions office of his/her first preference
polytechnic/UAS. In order to prove the applicant’s English language
skills, he/she must provide one of the following minimum requirements:
IELTS score academic level 6,0 or TOEFL score 550 paper-based test/ 79-80
internet -based test, or skills level 4 in English in the National
Certificate of Language Proficiency. Both TOEFL and IELTS test results are
valid for two years. The National Certificate of Language Proficiency does
not have a set date of validity. TOEFL score results are only accepted
directly from the Educational Testing Service.
In addition, upper
secondary level school education in English completed in Great Britain,
Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand or Bachelor’s
or Master’s degree completed in English in one of these countries, is also
accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills.
Bachelor's or Master's degree conducted in English in a European Union /
European Economic Area -country is also accepted as a demonstrationof
sufficient English language skills.
The certificate copies must be
delivered to the admissions office by 24 February 2012 at 4.15 pm Finnish
time (+2 hrs GMT).
All applicants who have demonstrated their
eligibility and language skills will be invited to the entrance
examinations. Invitations to entrance exams will be sent by post 16 March
2012.
Entrance Examinations will take place at Diak South/Järvenpää
Unit on 11 or 12 April 2012 (one day per applicant)

Diaconia
University of Applied Sciences has applied for a Designated Institution
(DI) code from ETS – Educational Testing Service, which means that an
applicant who will take a TOEFL test can allow the test organiser to send
the official test score report directly to Diaconia University of Applied
Sciences. Applicants can use the code when they register for the TOEFL
test and indicate our institution as a score recipient. The TOEFL code of
Diaconia University of Applied Sciences is 5943. Applicants can also
provide in the registration form the name and address of the institution
where they want their official score reports to be sent. In Diaconia

Health requirements: Applicant, who applies to the field of
Social Services and Health, must consider whether his/her health condition
enables his/her successful practical studies and work placement.
Those
applying to the field must take into consideration that: • both
studying and working in the profession requires good mental health •
the field is not suitable for a person who uses illegal drugs or misuses
alcohol or pharmaceuticals • musculoskeletal diseases, chronic
dermatological diseases and allergies can become a health issue during
studies or later in professional life • blood-borne diseases can limit
placement in professional life. • A polytechnic/UAS can request that
the student provides his/her criminal records extract before his/her work
placement, if the work placement tasks include working with children.
Applicant
is required to give relevant information about his/her health, if the
polytechnic/UAS asks for more information for admission evaluation
purposes. This applies also for information about possible earlier revoked
study places
